Aloha Brian,
There is a section at your local library called Fiction. The Fiction librarian may be able to guide you to  Fiction books "regarding the u.s. knowing that pearl harbor was going to happen."

Otherwise, the facts, as supported by the documents at http://www.ibiblio.org/pha/pha and on this board, are that the USA and FDR did NOT know of the attack on Oahu in advance of the actual action.

It's quicker to make up your information if you want to "prove" the US knew in advance of the attack.  If you use information somebody else made up you'll have to cite them, "in the name of academic honesty."  Your challenge here will be that all the really entertaining lies have already been taken.  I suppose there are still quotes out there that haven't been taken out of context and misconstrued, but there can't be many.  You could also take isolated "facts" and present them without context to support your position.  This is a more fertile ground as any "fact", taken without due consideration of the whole, can be used to "support" foreknowledge of the attack.

You could always go to the Mudder of All Conspiracies site and get all the nonsense you need.  Mad Mark won't mind, one more person flinging mud at FDR would suit him fine.  From this well you get fine feats of mistory such as claiming at 154 degrees EAST is "near Hawaii", when anyone with a map and a brain can tell you it's closer to Japan than it is to Midway.

Please don't take any of this personally if you are offended, it's just that many of the people on this site have spent literally years trying to get the facts straight, but we always seem to have one more person popping up who hasn't had the energy or intelligence to properly study the matter and just takes whatever nonsense offered as gospel.    Our responses are for the general readership, not such people as have spent a good ten minutes on the topic and now know everything about it.  Those folks are, and probably always will be, lost causes.

Well here is my problem now, my stupid english teacher made the paper a thesis paper so it has to be based ob evidence, number two the morron told me today in class that there is no controversial issue here, that it has been proven, but i feel that it is and in fact know that it is controversial. I just need a place to find info either way wether it be fact or fiction. I know alot of people including my self believe most of it is fiction but it would be nice along the way to find a little bit of fiction. I want to get into the real story and maybe write somthing I can be proud of

There has never been any real evidence put forward that a conspiracy existed to "just let it happen" at Pearl Harbor, and endless numbers of reasons for FDR et al., to NOT "just let it happen."  Those reasons are presented all over this board and documented quite thoroughly.  Spend some time here and you'll find all the evidence you need to refute any stupid conspiracy theory your teacher, or anybody else, might hold.

You can't prove a conspiracy DIDN'T exist, any more than you can prove Santa DOESN'T exist.  You can't prove the nonexistance of anything.  However, you can apply critical thinking to all the possible reasons the presents get under the tree.  Why wouldn't they owe their existance to a jolly old gentleman who lives at the North Pole, who flies in a sleigh powered by 8 tiny reindeer and who mananges to commit millions of break-and-enters in a single night?  People who believe in Santa ignore the impossibility of the feats required and focus on the single fact that there were no presents under the tree last night and now there are.

There are several important themes to the conspiracy nuts' thesis.  These have been dismantled at http://www.ibiblio.org/pha/myths, a site you should visit.

Hi Brian,
An excellent first "read" about the topic your teacher assigned is
the article:
"How Roosevelt Attacked Japan at Pearl Harbor: Myth Masquerading as History"
by noted historian R.J.C. Butow
in the National Archives and Record Administration publication Prologue Vol 28, no.3 (Fall 1996): 208-221.

You may find this at your library's government document section OR thru your library's InterLibrary Loan [ILL] Department.

Larry Jewell has recently been in contact with NARA and sent to them an electronic copy of this article to post at the Prologue site. Soon you may find it there!
