Dear Friends,

Million thanks in advance.

On page 154 of Burl Burlingame's book: "Advance Force Pearl Harbor" the SS Cynthia Olson had a crew of 31. Two men, Private Ernest J. Davenport, the medical technician and Private Samuel J. Zisking, the radio operator were regular Army. All hands boarded the lifeboats when the shelling started. They were never recovered.

Hope this helps.

I am a familiy member of Sotero V. Cabigas he was my Uncle.  I was doing reasearch on Uncle Saturnino Ramos Cabigas When I ran accross this webb page.  Uncle saturnino was in the 26th Filipino Scouts, troop "E" Stationed at Fort Stotsenburg P. I. on December 7th 1942.  At the same time he was being bombarded by Japanese Uncle Sotero was being torpedoed; 20 minutes before the attack on Pearl Harbor WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
Saturnino was in the battle of Bataan with the 26th Cavalry regiment.  he was intergraded into troop "C" on April 5, because of so many losses.  he was sent to Corrigedor and it fell on may 5/6.  Saturnino was taken POW and was not sent to Manila to be paraded,  he was sent to Marivales at the trail end of the Bataan Death March and he subsequently escaped into the jungle.  later to fight in a guirella outfit till the end of the war.

Aloha Robert,
Welcome aboard! We hope that you will find comfort that we remember those who lost their lives on that day of infamy. Of course, when you said, "Uncle saturnino was in the 26th Filipino Scouts, troop "E" Stationed at Fort Stotsenburg P. I. on December 7th 1942." You really meant -due to the date line- "Dec 8, 1941"...

Perhas you might help with the names for various KIA, WIA action as to their ancestry. I am not great with some names...yet I know there were many Philippine nationals enlisted with the US Navy, seeking US citizenship by their service. Their familys may find closure with the many lists naming those lost. Remembrance helps us to keep alive the memory of who and why.

Help us keep the record straight!
