Aloha Jamaksin,
What is your real name? We use real names to help learn more about each other.

Glad you are doing some footwork thru the various archives, tho your posts above suggested otherwise thus my responce. Your trek to Hyde Park was not fulfilling. You must get into the "War Room" files.

Yes, I have a copy of JD #7001 but it is not the "Winds Execute" but an error in skipping the number during issue [a holiday]. I have seen such done in other files and can see how Laurance Frye Safford could have make his error to suggest the "holiday" was the "Winds Execute". [For the reader: note the Safford's "Index of Translations" in Part 34 Congressional Investigation of Pearl Harbor Attack, pages 190-198]

Captain Safford's wife tired of hearing about his error and he was finally sending letters thru a mail drop he set up at the Central Research room at the National Archives. He asked that phone calls be routed there, too. In 1972, he directed lunch be at the Mellon Gallery, across the street from the National Archives.

As to release of classified info, I do not want any blood on my hands and adhere to the letter of the law on the info I acquired during my service. Information that is "classified" may be right under your nose in the public domain...if put together with other info in the public domain...and analysis done. For example: the officially released speed of a plane may be at say Mach Three, and a published info says the ejection seat is rated at Mach Four, yet a newspaper might then release that a pilot was killed during ejection...you would thus know that the plane really goes faster than Mach Four [and that would be classified]. The point is that I do not know what is still classified and how the release of certain info I acquired in my service relates to a current action involving people's lives. If someone still in the military -with the knowledge of what is still a classified matter or not- relates that what I know is unclassified, do I suddenly start yelping my jaw bone?

Yes, there are millions of pages of WWII material that is still "Classified" in that they have not been reviewed for A-Bomb related information. Once reviewed by the archivist for "A-Bomb" data [the only thing still "classified" from WWII], then it gets the magical rubber stamp "Declassified DOD Dir 5200.9"! So get into the archives and DIG!

To "invoke" the FOIA only slows the process for the rest of us as the archivist must spend a day trying to find something which was not filed correctly or misidentified and respond that, on that day, he could not discover the item in question.

Of interest, it took the Louvre Museum, Paris, 300 years to locate a document made by Leonardo DaVinci as it looked like music notation [he had written the document backwards by looking in a mirror] and so filed in "music"....and some of the best photos of aircraft are indexed "Bob Hope" or "Carol Lombard" or whoever famous was standing in front!
HTH,

Mr. Aiken,

Thank you and good morning.

Is it possible for you to post your copy of JD #7001 on this Website to be shared with all?

Regards,

jamaksin

P.S., If you also have the GUPID message traffic for November/December 1941; or if you can point to their whereabouts/classification I'd appreciate seeing those also.

P.P.S., Those FBI files - any help there would be even more appreciated.

Dear all,

Once I see Henry Regnery CompanyI am deeply skeptical of all claims made thereafter. They had a political axe to grind, then and now, and were not above fudging the facts to affect a political outcome.
