In response to the ships named for ARIZONA sailors, here is a breakdown of the ships named for Pearl Harbor Heroes by location in number...

USS ARIZONA...25 ships...1 (non-kia) ship
USS CALIFORNIA...7 ships...1 (non-kia) ship
USS DOWNES...1 ship
USS ENTERPRISE Scouting Squadron #6...3 ships...2 (non-kia) ships
USS HELENA...1 (non-kia) ship
USS HONOLULU...1 (non-kia) ship
USS MARYLAND...1 ship
USS MUGFORD...1 (non-kia) ship
USS NEOSHO...1 (non-kia) ship
USS NEVADA...7 ships...1 (non-kia) ship
USS NEW ORLEANS...2 (non-kia) ships

USS ZANE...1 (non-kia) ship

CINCPAC HQ'...1 (non-kia) ship
FORD ISLAND NAS...2 (non-kia) ships
KANEOHE NAS...14 ships...1 (non-kia) ship

Non-kia represents men at PH on December 7, that were killed later in the war, and/or were recognized for achievements later in the war.
The list is believed to be complete, while the non-kia ships could still expand as my studies continue.  Future ships could also be named.
I can provide a detailed list of ship names for any interested.

I'd be interested as well; for the Arizona I went and scanned photos of all of them that I could find at San Francisco NARA, but I think it would also be interesting to assemble some historical facts such as the number of battle stars collected by ships named for sailors, etc.

Let's see what this does...
