I am a long time Pearl Harbor collector, and Honorary member of PHSA....I have a very nearly complete collection of postal cancels from the ships and stations at Pearl Harbor on 12/7/41.  I have never been able to locate a photo of the THORNTON AVD-11  ex DD-270.....anybody have an idea? A large portion of my collection can be seen on the net...will send link to those interested.

Jon,

Let me do some checking because I may have a few names for you to write. They are former crewmen who may have kept letters they wrote at the time.

Hi Ken,

Thanks. I actually have a THORNTON postal marking...but former crew members would possibly have a photo I can get a copy from.  At this time, I also have 162 autographs from survivors,(none from Thornton), any Pearl Harbor survivors that you know, that would like to add their name to the display, I would also like to make contact with.

Hello Jon,
I have at least 2 good copy negatives of the THORNTON. one is an elevated stern view at Hunter's Point dated 4/44 and the other probably at Mare Is. is a starboard broadside in dazzle camoflage dated 6/45. Cost for a 5x7 is $5.50 and cost for an 8x10 is $8.00 plus $3.85 for priority mail. If interested, you can e-mail me at earroyo01@snet.net.
