I wonder if anyone can direct me to books or information on what Oahu was like after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  I am curious to know what role the local people played in the aftermath.

My family lived there during that time but the ones that were old enough to remember have all passed away.  Unfortunately, no one got their stories.

Are there any books on the subject?

Mahalo!

Aloha Lori,
There are many volumes about Hawaii which touch on the topic, but none give the flavor as the source which those various books depend:

Gwenfread Allen, Hawaii's War Years, 1941-1945 (Honolulu: University of Hawaii Press, 1950; reprinted: Westport, CT: Greenwood Press, 1971).

Use your local library's Inter-Library Loan department to obtain the book!

Excellent on the wartime years!
