The past couple of months have seen the passing of two of our Nation's best. The Doolittle Raid was an Army Air Corp/Navy operation from the USS Hornet on 18 April 1942. Two of the Raiders have passed away. April saw the passing of Lt. Colonel Chase Nielsen and yesterday Colonel Jack Sims passed away. Lt. Col. Nielsen was captured by japaneese forces in China. Two of his crew were executed by the japs as was another from another crew. A fourth airman died of disease and starvation.
There are now only thirteen of the Raiders still living. Heros all.
