I received an email today (6/11) of the passing of Commander Herbert Fox Rommel.  Rommel was an Ensign on the USS OKLAHOMA on the morning of December 7th, and called his ship to arms with the semi-famous quote of "This is a real air-raid...This is no $#!t"  Herb passed in his sleep this past Sunday after spending the day in the memorial garden planted for his wife of 55 years who had preceeded him in death.  He was 91.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the news of the passing of such a great man. Every tidbit helps the readers learn about the details of that day. Keep them coming!

Oh, the readers may find it of interest that the use of profanity is not normally condoned at this site NOR by loudspeaker aboard the battleships of 7 Dec... yet the use of profanity coming from the loudspeaker on USS Oklahoma galvanized those below deck to the urgency of the situation. Thanks, Jon for this historical quote.
