I think there should be a dress code when going to the Arizona Memorial.  The Arizona Memorial isn't some
tourist attraction.  It's the final resting home for those brave men who gave their lives so we can enjoy the freedom we have today.  To me it's terrible that people go there in shorts and t shirt.  It's terrible during a presentation or something dealing with the movie Pearl Harbor one of the directors girlfriends dresses in some [inappropriate] outfit at the Arizona Memorial.

I'm not saying jacket and ties but at least think about what where you're at when visiting the Arizona Memorial.

I've been to Hawaii only once.  My senior trip for high school.  back in 1986.  A friend and I went all the way to Pearl Harbor by bus and before we were going to get on the boat that takes you out to the Arizona Memorial,  I told me friend we're not dressed properly to go there in our shorts and t shirts.  Though many people were dressed that way.  We went back to our hotel and changed into pants and collared shirts and went back.  A guard asked us if we came earlier and why we left and came back.  I told him exactly that and he was near tears when he said Thank you.

So let honor those who died at Pearl Harbor with a dress code to go onto the Arizona Memorial.

I totaly agree that there should be a dress code. I do not think it needs to be long pants though, it is Hawaii. A pair of nice shorts and a collerd shirt would be fine. Bathing suits and flipflops would be a no no.

To go along with the dress code there should be somthing said to the parents of children that are visiting. I have been told by freinds visiting the site that kids are running around and playing on the memorial. These parents and kids should be told not asked to return to the launch for the next return trip.

The Arizona Memorial is a special place. It is sacred almost as much as Arlington National Cemetary. Parents of children should have enough respect to instruct their children how to honor the men who gave their lives for us that day. Under no circumstances should the children be permitted to play on the memorial.
