I have seen "Tora! Tora! Tora!" quite a few times (was the thing that got me interested in the subject, in fact.)  I have only seen a few minutes of "Pearl Harbor", and that, frankly, was enough for me. Give me "Tora!" or give me..."From Here To Eternity", I say.
Anyhoo, I think the next film about Dec. 7th should be like "Gettysburg": a straightforward retelling of the event with a sharp emphathis on the human side of the story.  Wouldn't be perfect, of course, for one couldn't depict each and every thing that happened that day, but if done right, and, above all, done with respect and honor to the real history and the people who were there (something that sets films like "Gods And Generals" and "Gettysburg" apart from the likes of "Titanic" and "Pearl Harbor", IMO), you could come up with a classic historical drama, by gosh!
Oh, since I touched on Ron Maxwell's Civil War trilogy in this post, one of the real-life people in it, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlian, hero of Little Round Top at Gettysburg, got married on DECEMBER 7Th, 1855!  What would old Josh have had to say if he knew what would happen on that date 90 years or so later?  Even he might have been at a loss as to what to say at first, Pearl Harbor being such a terrible disaster, but ah how he would have sung praises for the valor of the likes of George Welch and Ken Taylor though!

Aloha Richard,
The disappointment of the recent movie is mirrored by a host of viewers...Tora x3 is much better.

Sadly, all we have memory from this new movie is Taylor and Welch as tho they were THE only aerial heroes of 7 Dec. Say, Richard, total up the number of US planes airborne DURING the attack and match these to the  "spoiler".
